Known to the It Works family as "Dr. Don," Don Verhulst, M.D. is the Chief Science Officer for It Works Marketing.  Dr. Don received his B.S. at the University of Michigan in 1978 and his M.D. from Wayne State University School of Medicine in 1982.  Dr. Don has an extensive background in researching the effects of nutrition and natural remedies on today's common health issues.  He has taught and lectured on these topics and his "10 Steps to Better Health" for over 20 years.

As the It Works Product Development Specialist, Luis Mijares works tirelessly to orchestrate the creation of one-of-a-kind products that are safe, effective, and grounded in natural, botanical principles.  Luis's passion for research and development in the skin care, nutritional, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology industries began when he was a child, learning natural remedies from his grandmother in Mexico.  His abundant credentials, including his experience as the CEO of a top pharmaceutical company, his international reknown as an herbalist and university educator of phytotherapy (the uses of plants for medicinal purposes), along with his keen personal interest in natural solutions made Luis the ideal candidate for the It Works Product Development Specialist.

Luis's hands-on approach to developing naturally-based skin care and nutritional products for It Works ensures strict quality standards.  He particularly has a personal interest in all of his skin care product developments because of his own former bout with skin cancer.  His experience with cancer has committed Luis to creating products that safely prevent and repair the harmful environmental effects that contribute to the speed of the aging process

I had the ability to think in scientific terms, to really understand all of the wonderful world of technology, and at the same time to know with all of my heart that all the answers are in nature.“

Carla Burns, a registered nurse and certified personal trainer, has studied natural remedies and holistic medicine for over 15 years.  She is the creator of both FITworks, our online interactive weight loss community, and the exclusive It Works! It's Essential meal replacement bar.  Carla's work experiences and own husband’s struggles with health and weight loss made her realize the urgent need for simple, cost effective solutions in promoting healthier lifestyles.

Carla's extensive knowledge of the human body, her passion for health, nutrition, and wellness, and her heart for others has made Carla a valuable asset to the health experts team.  She works passionately with members of the FITworks community to help them achieve their weight loss, health, and personal wellness goals.
